The New Jersey production, which officially opened March 1 following previews that began February 16, follows the stage adaptation's 2019 world premiere via The Public Theater's Free Shakespeare in the Park, helmed by Obie winner Lear deBessonet, who returned to direct the Paper Mill staging. Next up is a run in Hamburg, Germany, scheduled to begin in spring 2024, with dates to be announced. Paper Mill Playhouse's production of Disney's Hercules, based on the animated film of the same name, ends its limited engagement March 19.
